CARTERTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Brick and Tile Works was held at Carterton yesterday, Mr J. A. Dudson in the chair. The report, which was a very satisfactory one, showed that during the year there had been an increased demand for agricultural pipes, the output being 50,000 in excess of the nrcvious year's output. The report was unanimously adopted. Messrs J. A. Dudson and A. Booth were reelected directors, and Mr Jas. Brown was re-elected auditor. At a meeting of directors, held after the annual meeting, Mr J. A. Dudson [was reelected Chairman for the ensuing year. The Carterton Cricket Club held a very good practice on Carrington Park yesterday afternoon. The players are now showing good form for the coming matches. The fortnightly meeting of th 3 Druids Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held in the Foresters' Hall, Carterton, on Monday evening, Bro. G. W. Hart, A.D.J presiding. The Secretary of the United Friendly Societies' Council wrote enclosing proposed uniform doctors agreement, under which payment to . Lodge doctors are proposed to ba greatly increased, it was recommended by the Council that a summoned meeting of the Lodge be called to- consider the matter and report to the Council at Wellington on November 14th. A summoned meeting was fixed for November 2nd. Two friends were proposed for membership. The receipts for the evening amounted to £lO 19s, and disbursements £8 ss. The monthly meeting of the Carterton District High School Committee was held at Carterton on Monday night, Mr John Brown in the chair. The headmaster's report showed that during the month ending September 30th, the attendance had been:—Primary, roll 276, average attendance 250; Secondary, roll 39, average attendance 36. Mr J. M. Nicholls, visitor for the past month, reported everything to be in a satisfactory state at the school. It was decided to repaint the old school building. Messrs A. F. and Hugh Wilson ware appointed for the month.
