BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
BY TELEGRAPH —I'KESS ASSOCIATION. NELSON, October 20. In connection with the Baptist Conference, to-day was devoted to the "Missionary Society of that Chuich. Reports were received from the Rev. John Table, Dr North. Mrs de Car taret, Misses Beckingsale and Gainsford,' who are labouring in the missionfields. , ~ - .! A conversazione was held in the afternoon, and was numerously attended. Rev. Alfred North presided. Mr Driver and Rev. E. A. Kirwood, with the Chairman, gava stirring addresses as to the financial aspects of the Society. Last year's revenue amounted to £2,060, leaving a credit balance of £IBO. t This afternoon a £SOO gift was announced as a memorial to a departed daughter. To-night a missionary meeting was held, when the Church was crowded. Mr George presided. Speeches were made by Miss Gainstord and the Revs. Hay and Knowles Kempton.
