The Australian met Llanelly yesterday, and were defeated by a goal and a try (eight points) to a goal (five'points). secured a.try five minutes after starting. Soon after Carroll ran three-quarters of the length of the ground and scored a try for the "Wallabies." Towards half-time Evans, an International forward, added a brilliant try, which was converted. The.second half was hotly contested. The result aroused immense enthusiasm among the ten thousand spectators present.
AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE TEAM. A DRAWN GAME. Received October 19, 12.40 a.m. LONDON, October 18. The Australian League team played a draw with Salford on Saturday, each team securing three goals and a try (nine points). Messenger kicked a penalty goal, and a goal from a mark early in the game, and Salford equalised. A vigorous unscientific game folllowed. In the second half Devereaux added a try which was not converted, and Messenger kicked a goal. Salford also scored a try and kicked a goal.
