CONSTANTINOPLE LYNCHING CASE.
FIFTEEN LYNCHERS ARRESTED. STRENGTHENING THE POLICE. Received October 18, 4.20 p.m. LONDON, October 17. Three battalions at Monastir (a town of Turkish Macedonia, ninety miles from Salonica) and Constantinople and twenty experienced Gendarmerie cilicera at Salonica have been summoned to Constantinople to do police duty owing to the untrustworthiness of the Yildis troops on. the occasion of the lynching of tbe Ottoman Greek gardener and in order to prevent a recurrence of disorder. Fifteen of the lynchers have been arrested. A cablegram on Saturday morning stated that a crowd, mostly Kurds, murdered an Ottoman Greek er at Constantinople, and almost beat to death a Turkish woman for wishing to marry him. A policeman and some soldiers, under whose protection the couple were placed, have heen punished owing to cowardice and lukewarmness shown by, \\\em in resisting the lynchers*.
