PALMERSTON NORTH ANNUAL CATTLE FAIR. (By Telegraph—-Special to Wairarapa Age.) ™ PALMERSTON N., October 14. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., and Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., in conjunction, report having held thair annual sprmg cattle fair on October 14"tb, at Palmerston North, when they offered 2,000 head of cattle on account of Mr McKenzie The day proved exceptionally fine. There was a very large attendance of buyers from the Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Wanganui, Taranaki, and local buyers were prominent. A most satisfactory sale resulted. Bidding was very Keen indeed tor all lines of young cattb offered, and the frst 1,100 were sold under the hammer. The various lines of cattle ' were placid Before tne public in an especially (attractive manner, and great care had evidently been exercised in drafting them. Mr McKenzie was widely complimented on having offered one of the best lines of stock ever yarded in the Manswatu district. The Auctioneers quote as follows:—43s polled Angus yearling steers sold at from £2 15s 6d to" £2 16s; small dit'o, 395; 91 yearling Shorthorn pt?ers, £2 5s 6d; 151 yearling polled Angus heifers, 275; 74 yearling Shorthorn heifer?, 25s 6d to 27s 6d; 67 forward polled Angus cows, £3 2s; 45 Shorthorn cows, £3; 40 store cows, £2 15s 6d; fat and forward cows, £4 3s, £4 12s and £4 16s: ft»t cows, £5 6s to £5 15s and £5 17s; prime fat heifers, £6 19s; prime tat bullocks, £9 12s; 63 2-year Shorthorn steers, £3 lis 6d; 113 2|-year steers, £4 16s; culled 3-year steers, £3 3s; bad coloured 4-year old bullocks, £4 9s to £4 15s; polled Angus bullocks, £5 13s 6d; forward Holstein cross bullocks, £5 18s 6d; 100 4-year old bullocks, £5 l<3s; 237 5 year old bullocks, £6 7s 6d.
