IRRIGATION OF FERNRIDGE.

The proposed irrigation scheme for Fernridge, which has been in contemplation for over a year, came under the notice of the Masterton County Council yesterday, when Messrs W. L. Falconer and A. P. Rawson, C.E., waited upon the Council to ask it to authorise the raising of a loan of £SOO to carry out the scheme. Plans and estimates were produced by Mr Rawson, while Mr Falconer stated that the consent of the settlers interested had been obtained. It was found, however, that the Council had drawn on account of loans to within £25 of its limit. The Council, therefore, had no option but to postpone the request indefinitely. Should any of the loan money authorised to be raised not be taken up the Council will then consider the application for the Fernridge water supply.
