WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Levin and Company. Ltd., report aa follows regarding Friday's sale;—We offered 35 bales wool, 2000 skins, 500 hides, 600 calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horseihair. Wool: Market was down in -sympathy with London, and prices fell a halfpenny to a penny. We ■quote:—Medium crossbred 3Jd to -4Jd, inferior 2d to SJd, lambs wool -4d to 4§d, piece* and locks Id to 3d, .good crutchings 3d to Sid, medium crutchings 3}d to 3d, seady and inferior lid to 2fd. Skins: No change to record. We quote:—Fine crossbreds 5d to 6d, crossbred 4d to sd, •dead skins 2d to 3|d, dead hoggets :2d to 3Jd, dry pelts Id to 2£d. green skins 2s 6d to ss, lamb skins lOd each. 'Tallow: Firm. Parcels in shipping ••order £23, tins £lB to £2l 10s, rough fat £lO to £l3. Horsehair: Is •to Is 3d per lb. Horns: 5s to 17s 6d per hundred. Cowtails: Is 4d to Is ;8d per dozen. Hides: We again £ brought forward a large catalogue of 'liides. Market was easier and prices for ox hides receded a farthing and calt skins a penny. Cow hides no •change. We quote:—Ox hides (heavy) 5Jd to s|d, ox hides (medium) s|d to 5Jd, ox hides (light) 4d to 4§d, cowhides 4d to 4£d, cut and slippy hides 2d to 3£d, stag hides 2£d to 3d, bull hides 2d to 3d, calf (best) 4d to 6£d, calf (cut and slippy) 2d to 3d. Our next sale will be held on Friday, October 23rd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as followsWe offered a small catalogue of wool, a large number of skins and hides, and about 25 casks tallow. Buyers were in average attendance, but bidding was not quite so animated as that experienced at late sales. Reports from London regarding the current wool snles are discouraging and local buyers are consequently buying cautiously. We have to record a slight drop in wool and inferior skins. Hides are a little easier, but sound pelted, fullwoolled skins are at level of last sales. We quote:—Wool. Crutchings (medium) 2£d to 3&d, heavy and seedy ljd to 2Jd. Skins: Half and fine crossbred 5Jd to 6d, medium and coarse crossbred 4£d to 5Jd, pelts 2&d to 3£d, green skins to 4s _ sd, • damaged skins Id to 3|d. Hides: Ox (medium to light) 4£d to sd, ox (light) 3§d to 4Jd, calfskins (sound) 4Jd to s£d, calfskins (damaged) l£d to 4d, damaged hides l|d to 3d, cow 3|d to 4gd. rallow: Shipping parcels (medium mixed) 23s to 24s per cwt, odd packages 20s 6d to 21s 6d per cwt.
