St. Matthew's Cricket Club held a very successful practice on the Park Oval on Saturday last, there being over twenty members present. The Carlton Club intend to enter a team for the Wairarapa Saturday Junior Championship. The United Cricket Club opened their season on Saturday afternoon on the Park Oval, when a team picked from the ranks played all-comers. Some interesting play was witnessed, although, as is usual, the bowling for so early in the season was too good for the batting. The victory went to the all-comers' eleven by 24 runs. Waters, for the United Club, and Boyd (Carlton) were the most successful batsmen for their respective sides.
