IRENE AINSLEY CONCERT.

At the Town Hall this evening, Misss Irene Ainsley, the New Zealand contralto, will be heard for the first time in Masterton. A contemporary says:—"New Zealand has been rarely fortunate in supplying to the world a singer of Miss Ainsley's worth, and not within our recollection has so much romantic interest centred around the rise to fame of any other singer as in the case of Miss Ainsley. Winning at the outset of her career the affectionate interest and personal protection of a "star" like Madame Melba, Miss Ainsley has gone Irom one success to another, until, within the short space of four years, she is able to reappear in her native land, stamped as one of the famous singers of the day." Miss Ainsley will sing songs written expressly for her by the ballad writer Katherine Barry. Miss Ainsley will be supported by well-known artists, including Mr Hamilton Hodges, New Zealand's favourite baritone. The box plan is on view at Miss Rive's.
