UNABLE TO VISIT AUSTRALIA
Received October 3, 1.5 a.ifi. MELBOURNE, October 2. Aftpr the fleet left Albany Mr A. Deakin cabled to President Roosevelt expressing gratification "and thanks for the visit of the splendid fleet. He added: "We would greatly appreciate another opportunity of honouring your country. This time in your own person. I hope that in your projected tour next year we may welcome the visit of Theodore Roosevelt the individual, after you have relinquished the heavy burden and high responsibilities of your office." Received October 2, 11.40 p.m. NEW YORK, October 2. President Roosevelt, while thanking Mr A. Deakin for his invitation to -'visit Autralia, states that it is impossible for him to do so.
