THE MANAWATU SHOW.
A Carnival of Agricultural Industry is what might be applied to the three -flays Show to be held on November the 4th, sth and 6th next, at Palm- ' -erston North by the ManawatU and "West Coast Agriculurai and Pastoral Association. The comprehensive nature of a Show of this description affords many valuable opportunities to the live stock breeder and merchant to effectively reach the agricultural and paatoralist. Those -engaged in these industries devote much attention to a big Show like hat'at Palmerston North, where the ream of live stock is represented rom most parts of the Dominion in he Show pens, and at a glance one an gather what is beir.g dor ; e by reeders in the breeding of stock, and he time spent in a close inspection k s a most valuable factor in agricultural education. It is evident that T his is recognised by the Committee i thd Manawatu A. and P. Society, or in a most liberal manner have hey catered for all divisions to indues competition and assist in buildup up the industries which come undt-r its scopo. The extensive this Show can be gathered from the number of classes provided: Horses, 70; cattle, 72; sheep, 111; piga, 39; dogs, 142; utility poultry, 6J; arts and industrial photography, 7; art and technical schools, 53; nublic schools, 38; needlework, 48; !home cookery, etc., 35. Exhibitors •at this Show in all departments praise the studious attention given to the care of-stock and general exhibits K every year, and judging-from the many improvements effected, the work ot the Association ia riot lacking in progress. Remembering the development in agricultural settlement,, and extension'of' the North Island Trunk railway, end increasing demand for well-bred stock of all kinds, the success of which will assist to Make this Dominion truly great, it will not be a surprise if the coming Show is a distinct advance on those of ■ previous years. Those to IF- exhibit are reminded that all entries, •except live stock, will close on October 9th, and live stock entries will ■close on October 16th, 1908.
