METEOROLOGICAL.

Mr J. C. Boddington reports as follows: —Rain fell on ten days in September on the Upper Plain. The maximum fall in £4 hours was 32 poirts on the 17th, and the minimunj 4 points on the 15th. The total for the month was 1.78 inches, as against » 2.92, 8.02, 3.39, 6.24 inches for September, 1904, 1905, 1906, and 1907. Total for rnne months, 25.62 k inches, as against 30.91, 36.75, 52, and 47.34 inches foi* the cor- , responding period in 1804, 1905, , ISO-'j, and 1907, from which it will be perceived that so far the rainfall this year is Si inches below the average, excluding last year (which was phenomenal). If that is included the shortage is llf inches.

Mr A. B. Nicholls reports that the raitifall registered at Castlepoint for September was 1.19 inches. Rain fell on .eight days, the maximum 47 points being registered on the 16th, and the minimum two points on the 22nd.
