A DARING THEFT.

John Uawley Moncur pleaded guilcy ai the Police Court to a charge of theft from a country residence, and was committed to the Supreme coutt at Auckland for sentence. Priaoner, who et-ited that hs left the American fleet at Auckland, went to che house where the theft was committed to see if he could obtain work, and whilst the only occupant (a la ,y) was playing the piano, he went through the rooms and stole two proses with moriey in them. He was arrested an hour later by Detective Rawle, as he was about to leave by ktearaer for the South.
