AMERICAN CRUISER SQUADRON

TO VISIT THE ISLANDS. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 28. The American qruiser squadron, numbering seven armoured cruisers and as many torpsdo boat destroyers, left San Francisco on August 25th for Honolulu. When the land was well behind the cruisers took the torpedo boats in tow at the end of ten-inch hawsers and live-inch steel cables. In this position they will remain, except when entering or leaving Honolulu and Pago Pago, until toe cruise of some thousands of miles in ended. The fleet will stay a week at Honolulu, a week at Pago Pago, and will return to Honolulu on October Bth and leave the same day for San Diego. At Magdalena Bay the fleet will have target practice for the entire month of November, and will return to San Francisco on December 4th. Samoa papers state that arrangements have been made for entertainments in connection with the visit to Apia of two armoured cruisers and two torpedo boat destroyers.
