BULGARIA AND TURKEY.
THE SEIZURE OF A RAILWAY. DIPLOMATIC OPINION. LONDON, September 25. Diplomatic opinion has universally condemned Bulgaria on the precedence and railway questions. y The prevailing impression is that Bulgaria is seeking <a pretext to declare her independence. , Received September 27, 3.25 p.m. LONDON, September 26. The Porte has appealed to the Powers to compel Bulgaria to restore the railway. Bulgaria proposes to purchase the Bulgarian section. Owing to the Porte slighting M. Gueshoff, Bulgarian Agent, by not issuing an invitation to him as to the regular diplomatists, Bulgaria, profiting by the .short-lived railwaymen's strike, seized the Bulgarian .section of the Oriental Railway, and claimed a proportion of the profits hitherto paid to Turkey. The Porte has addressed to Bulgaria a Note demanding the restoration of the railway to the company.
