The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as : ioliows:—Pahiatua —We submitted a ; good yarding in sheep, principally .hoggets, the quality being good j we made a clearance. In cattle we i had 111 classes. Good steers, forward •cows and strong yearlings met with a ready sale, old cows being hard to quit. At Masterton yesterday we xffared a few pens of sheep of better •quality than the average, all making ready sales. In cattle the entries limited to a few lots of steeds, f yearlings and dairy Stock, all finding purchasers at advanced rates. All young pigs penned sold freely. 1 At Pahiatua— Hoggets had a range of 9s, to lis 9d, forward ewes lis 6d, poor/ewes and lambs 10s 9d. At Masterton—Hoggets, extra good 12s 6d, others to 10s 3d, ewes and lambs, •good 16s, three and four-year steers £5, yearlings 21s, cows 40s to 70s, .store pigs 133 to 16s 6d, weaners 10s ■to lis. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—At our Taratahi yards, on Tuesday, we had a good yarding of cattle, but sheep did not •come forward up to advertised numbers. The auctioneers wish to point •'out to vendors that it is rather annoying to prospective buyers to find, ■on going to sales, that sheep as advertised do not come in. Wo quote as follows':—Springing heiters, £3 to £3 16s; 2J-year steers, £2 16s 6d to£3 2s6d; springing cows, well :forward, £5 to £5 6d; 3 year old steer?, £3 12s 6d tn £3 16a; 18-month ■steers, £2 3s to £2 12s; dairy cows, .£4 158 to £6 10s. AL Masterton we had a good yarding of both sheep and •cattle, the latter being represented by some first-class 3 and 4 year bullocks from Messrs .Barton Bros.' • Mataikona station. We quote:— Sheep—Ewes with lambs, 11a ~d; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 14s; hoggets, lis 2d. Cattle—3 and 4-year-old •Shorthorn bullocks, £5 lis; 3 and -4-year-old Polled Angus bullocks, *5 12s 6d; heifers in cslf (station line), • 33s 6d; farm-bred steers, 2h year -old, £3 13s; mixed yearlings, 17s -6d to 22a 6d. Our next Taratahi sale /will be held on October 6tli, and Masterton sale on October 7th.
