MASTERTON WOOL, SKIN AND HIDE SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report: —We held our monthly sale of wool, skins, hides, etc., yesterday, offering 45 bales and 50 bags woul, 2,560 ' sheepskins. 730 hides, and a quantity of tallow, horsehair, etc. There was -a full attendance of buyers and competition was very keen, more life being shown by buyers than for a ■ considerable time past. Wool—Many lines of good crutchings were offered, and strongly competed for. We quote:—Medium c.oasbred 4d to sd, inferior 2d to 4d, lambs wool 4d to •sd, pieces and locks Id to 3Jd, good <rutchingfj 3Jd to 3fd, medium •crutchings 2|d to 3Jd, seedy and inrferiur lid to 2£d. Sheepskins (showed an advance all round of Id on Just sale prices. We quote—Fine «cro?sbreds 5d to 6d, crossbred 4d to >ssd, dead skins 2d to 4Jd, dead hogigets 2d to 4d, dry pelts Id to 3d, flamtoskir.s 3d to 4Jd, green skins 2s t : d to 4* 6d er.ch. Tallow—Firm, k parcels in (■hipping order £22, tins At *£3-8 to £2O, rough fat £lO to £l3. Horsehair, Is to 1h 3d per lb. Hides —Our offering to-day were better than usual, the hides having been •well saved. They met with excellent ■competition dt full pricts. We quote: —Ox hides 4d to <fd, cow hides' 4d to' 4§d, cut and slippy hides 2d to 4d. ;s.ag hides 21 d to 3Jd, bull hides 2d to ifd, calf (best) 4d to 7§d, calf (cut ";and slippy) 2d to 3d. Our next sale will te held on Wednesday, November 4th, 190b, at 1 p.m. The Wairan pa Farmers' Co-oper-ative Association, Ltd., and Dalgety and Co., Ltrepott aa follows: - V/e held out nomhly wool, tkin and ■.hide sale ye-;te;day, offering 40 bales ai d 60 bags wool, 2,000 sheep skins, hides, ai d a quantity of tallow horsehair. Ti ere was a very igood attendance of buyers, and bidding was exceptionally keen. We •offered a very even catalogue of wool, ■our crutchings realising Wellington prices. Our skin catalogue was particularly good, Wellington prices ruling throughout. There was a decided improvement in the prices ot' Hides, especially the good lines of •calfskins, which advanced 2d to 2£d per lb. We quote:-Wool —Fleece, 4jd to sd; crutchings, 3Jd to 3£d; crutchings, seedy, 3d toSJd; dead wuol, 4d to 4Jd. Skins—Crossbred, 4|d to sd; crossbred, fine, 4£d to Sfd; hoggets, 3d to 4d; crossbred, inferior, pelted, 3Jd to 4id; crossbred half-wool?, 4Jd; crossbred, green, 3s 7d each. Hides —Cow, 4Jd to 4£d; cow, slippy, 3Jd to 3Jd; cow, cut and slippy, 3|d to 3|d; ox, 4id; heifer, 4|d; yearling, 13Jd to 4d; calf, 6gd to 7&d; calf, cut, 4|d, calf, ■slippy, 4Jd. Next sale will take place on November 4th.
