CYCLING.

AN OVERLAND JOURNEY. Received September 23, 9.40 p.m. SYDNEY, September 23. Birtles, the overland cyclist, arrived after a journey of 8,300 miles, occupying thirteen months. He was three weeks prostrated with fever. Starting irom Sydney in August last year he travelled through Queensland to Port Darwin, thence overland to Adelaide and via Melbourne. He underwent many hardships and experienced exciting Edventures in many parts of the Continent. He was much impeded by tropical rains, swollen rivers, and tandy deserts. He was onca caught in a bush lire and his tyres were consumed.
