LABOUR TROUBLES IN ENGLAND.
EFFECT ON SHIPBUILDING. A THREAT TO CLOSE DOWN. Received September 22, 8.8 a.m. LONDON, September 21. Messrs Withy and Co. threaten to close their shipbuilding branch at Hartlepool, owing to losses due to constant labour troubles. Before a definite decision taken, Sir Christopher Furness, head of the firm, proposes to submit to a conference of representatives of trades unions connected with shipbuilding, which will be convened for 7th October, a scheme to terminate the troubles. There are rumours of scctunil disputes.
