The Rev. E. T. Wynne Bond is expected back in Greytown from his trip to England early next month.

At Woodville, on Wednesday last, Mr W. Ritchie, eldest son of Mr Ritchie, of Raumai, was married to Miss Mary Ann Gleeson, second daughter of Mr J. F. Gleeson, of Hopelands, Woodville. Mr and Mrs Charles Saunders, who will assist the Masterton Orchestral Society at their concert this evening, will arrive in Masterton today by the mail train from Wellington.

Mrs David Kininberg, said to be the oldest lady resident of Wellington, died yesterday, aged 92 years. She had lived 67 years in Wellington, states a Press Association telegram, and she leaves two sons, eight daughters and 29 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren. On Saturday next, 26th September, Sir Joseph Ward will attain his political majority, as that day will be the twenty-iirst anniversary of his entry into Parliamentary life. Members of both branches of the Legislature met on Friday evening and decided that the occasion should be marked in some suitable fashion. They propose to arrange a presentation to the Prime Minister, the ceremony to take place in the cou-se of a complimentary gathering.

Mr W. King, a well-known worker in the Masterton Y.M.C.A*, who did valuable work in connection with the various departments, piirticulai ly in connection with the strangers' tea and the athletic clubs, will leave Masterton to-day for Wellington en route to Auckland, where he intends to reside. He was given a cordial farewell at the strangers' tea last evening, the Chairman (iYlr J. Hunter) awd others Mr King's services to the Association. Mr W. 11. Bird, who resigned the position of Steward and Secretary of the Commercial and Farmers' Club at Masterton a short time ago, was presented by members of the Club on Saturday with a cheque in recognition of the capable manner in which he had carried out his duties, and in token of the esteem in which he was held by members of the Club. The Vice-President, Mr f{. J. King, made the presentation, other speakers referring to the great popularity enjoyed by Mr Bird in his capacity as an official of the Club. I'he recipient's health toasted, and cheers afterwards given. Mr Bird suitably lesponded.
