AN OVERDUE BARQUE.
A SEARCH ASKED FOR. BY TiU.EORAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' AUCKLAND September 18. Relatives of some of the crew of the barque Loch Lomond (Captain J. Thompson), 64 days put from Newcastle to Lyttelton, have been in communication with the Union Company and the Marine Department, urginsr that the Hinemoa or other steamers should search south-west of New Zealand and the Southern depots. The Secretary of the Marine replied that the Hinetvm does not visit tha Southern Islands until January, and it is not likely the Loch Lomohd got to the Southern' Islands. The Hon. J. A. Millar and th<? manager of the Union Company statas that the company's coastal and intercolonial steamers are keeping a look-out for missing vessels and deviating from the usual course. The latest telegram to the Minister is as follows: —"Intercolonial boats are unlikely to see the Loch Lomond till the need for help hi past. Consider that in View of expert opinion the search thouJd be made o* the Southern Islands cr the depota visited."
