Fireman Price has Jbeen elected second lieutenant of the Martinbor« ough Fire Brigade, and Fireman Willacy has been appointed second - branchman. The many friends uf Mr Frank Buick, of Opaki, will regret to .team that he is seriously ill, and his condition is causine his relatives considerable anxiety. , Mr D. A. Morton, for some time a member of the Masterton Rifles, was, at a meeting of ■ the Wellington Highland Rifles held on Wednesday evening after parade, unanimously elected a subaltern officer of the corps. • | Mr H. K. Wood, of Messrs Dalgety and Company's Wellington staff, has been appointed to take charge of the Dannevirke business of the firm. Mr Wood.,was formerly a member,of the firm of F. |3. Wood and Sons, Vvkose stock agency business was taken over by Dalgety and Company, and hi j wide knowledge of stock and of , the Wairarapa .should stand him in good stead in the responsible position to which he been promoted.
