Mr C. O'Donnell's thoroughbred stallion The Workman will stand this season at Upper Plain, Masterton, at the moderate fee of £5 ss. Prior to being retired to the stud, The Workman showed a remarkable turn of speech His progeny invariably show plenty of quality, and on the race track have performed well. Shrapnel established a record, when he won the C.J.C. Grand National Hurdle Race in 1907. The Workman is known as a sure foal getter. Paddocking is provided for mares at Is Gd per week. Mr O'Donnell's announcement will appear in the next issue.

CHICAGO

Wairarapa breeders are notified elsewhere that the standard-bred trotting stallion Chicago will be at their service during the present season. This popular sire is from the celebrated Berlin stock, and is therefore related to the principal champion trotters in the Australasian colonies. Chicago's stock have proved a remarkably useful lot and as a consequence Mr Dagg's horse ia much sought after for breeding general utility horses as well as for the trotting track. Chicago is located at the owner's farm, Upper Plain. BENMORE DEAN. Particulars of the pedigree of this horse will be found in another column of this issue. On perusal it will be found that Benmore Dean is from a great race of Clydesdales, his sire (Benmore) and dam (Jeannie Dean) have been remarkably successful in the show ring, and their stock have proved splendid workers. The owner, Mr R. J. Wilson, Ihuraua, will supply fullest particulars on application.
