LAND TRANSFER ACT.
A statement of the business transacted under the Land Transfer Act last year shows that 797 applications —involving an area of 124,516 acres, of a value of £1,693,271—t0 transfer were made. Those granted numbered 21,791, the area affected being 2,946,169 acres valued at £17,226,141, as against; £13,695,013 the previous year. Applications to mortgage show an increase of from 17,105 last year to 19,795 this year.
