ELECTION ADDRESS.
MR HUNTER AT KOPUARANGA.
Mr John Hunter addressed the electors at Kupuaranga on Wednesday night, when forty electors attended. Mr G. 0. Donovan occupied the chair. The candidate spoke for over an hour, dealing principally with the matter of closer settlement— more particularly with the fact that in many cases the re-purchased land wss cut up into areas which were too large, whereby the people that the Act was really intended to benefit were shut out for want of capital." The candidate cumpaied the areas acquired in Masterton and South Wairarapa. In the latter electorate eight estates were acquired against one in Masterton since the Act was passed in 1892. He pointed out that last year there were 2.419 applications v "for land in the Wellington land district, and the total number supplied with land was 328, Other questions were dealt with on the same lines aa at Eketahuna. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the candidate on the motion of Mr Bruce.
