fIY TaLECIRAPH — I'BESS ASS JCIATTON. WELLINGTON, September 9. John McKaughlin was sentenced by Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., to-day, :o fourteen days' imorisonment without the option of a fine, for using obscene language. • Edward Thomas George Saule, who pleaded guilty to escaping from Point Halswell Gaol, and was sentenced to three months in addititn to a term of two years' imprisonment, which he was serving at the time of the escape. John O'Sullivan was committed for trial on a charge of asaulting Richard Coulson so as to have caused him bodily harm. Alexander Lawson was committed for trial on a charge or entering a dwelling by night with intent to commit a crime.
