MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
GROUND COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Ground Committee of the Masterton Racing Club was held on the racecourse yesterday morning. Present — Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), J. Maeara, R. Buick, J. Cress, W. Piatt, C. H. Smith, J. O'Meara, A. J. Welch and D. McLachlan. The Committee went over the plough and grass training tracks, and decided that the plough gallop be ploughed at once, rolled, harrowed ; and disced. The caretaker was authorised to employ a man to assist him in topdressing the track where required. PROGRAMME COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Programme Committee of the Club was held iri the secretary's office at 2.30 p.m. Present —Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), C. H. Smith, R. Buick, J.lCress, A. Welch, J. O'Meara, W. Piatt, W. Cooper, A. G. Pilmer, J. Macara and C. A. Povvnall. It was resolved that the stakes for the Masterton Tup be increased to £250, and that the stakes for the President's Handicap on the second day be increased to £l5O. The distance of the Maiden Scurry was reduced to four furlongs to allow two-yeai'-ulds to compete, the event being a weight-for-age race. A hunters' race, IS miles, was substituted for the Scurry Hack Race on the second day. The tenders for the Club's printing for the coming season were then dealt with, and resulted in the tender of the Wairarapa Age Company, Limited, 1 eir.g accepted.
