TINUI NOTES.

■ —— (From a Correspondent.) We are enjoying beautiful weather in this locality at present, nice warm •days with an entire absence of "frost" of late. Tho stations around . are beginning to show a fine spring ■of grass, in spite of them being Jfcavily stocked through the winter months. The lambing season, which is novv ; about half through on most of the stations hsre, is recorded as the best for years, and a heavy percentage is expected. Manawa Station expect to run abcut 100 per cent, of lambs, counting deaths amcng ewes, which is abnormally light—so few deaths have not been recorded for .years past. All the lamb» are stror g and healthy, and should the coming months be favourable, a big percentage of "fats" should go off the mother early. The roads are getting in perfect ■ order again, the only unsatisfactory piece of road to the public being north of Tinui in the direction of Annnedale Station, being a very bad patch of road near Mr Langdon's homestead, where the back waters from the Whareama river lodge in flood time and deposit their silt and rubbish. lam informed, on good • authority, that this evil is to be remedied this coming year, a* *he Castlepoint County Council intends : spending something like £7OO in the way of improvements :--viz., widen- • ing and straightening the course of the river, so as to stop the back finv. When this is done we shall have a perfect road, instead of now wading through knee deep in silt. The rate- - payers, too, ought to consider it money wtll spent. Except, in the .resoect mentioned, we have no cause to grumble.
