THE AMERICAN FLEET.
Received September 6, 4.40 p.m. MELBOURNE, September 6. The American Fleet sailed for Albany yesterday. MR DEAKTN'S TRIBUTE. ADMIRAL SPERRY'S FAREWELL MESSAGE. MELBOURNE, Septembe 5. At a farewell luncheon to the officers of the fleet, Mr, Deakin, the Federal Prime Minister, paid a tribute to the behaviour of the men of the fleet. He invited those who when they returned and found America not wide enough or full enough of opportunities to come back to Australia. Rear-Admiral Sperry, in a farewell message to Victoria, said that everywhere the fleet had met with a welcome which had gladdened their stay, and drawn the bonds of friendship still closer.
