Miss Grace Cotter, only daughter of Mr John Cotter, of Greytown, was married last Wednesday to Mr Francis James White, son of the late Mr John White, Hawke's Bay. The Rev. Barton H. Ginger, Superintendent of the Woodvills Methodist Circuit, was a visitor to Carterton, the headquarters of his former Circuit, yesterday. Mr D. E Parlon, who left for Taihape, yesterday, was the recipient of a handsome travelling bag from the staff of the Masterton Post Office, the Postmaster, Mr S. Inder, making the presentation on Thursday evening. Mr 11. Burmeister, of Pahiatua, has been appointed County engineer to the Vincent County Council in the place of Mr G. L. Cuthberson, re - signed. There were thirty-eight applicants for the position. The many friends of Mr George Croot, who was a resident of Martinborough for many years and who is at present following dairying pursuits, will regret to learn that he is lying seriously ill at his home near btratford. It is stated that Miss Mabelle Morgan, principal "boy" with the Humpty-Dumpty Pantomime Company, will leave for England at the termination of her engagement, to fill a similar role in a London pantomime. , The death occurred at Pahiatua, on Wednesday afternoon, of Mr J. Fnlloon. The deceased, who was 45 years of age, was well-known throughout the Wairarapa district. For the past fifteen years he had resided in the Pahiatua district. Ho was the owner of " Common wealth," "Federation," and other well-known draught stallions. His death will be greatly regretted by a large number of friends. A wife and three children are left to mourn their lo^s. A number of friends of Mr Percy Young, who left Masterton yesterday for New Plymouth to tajte charge_ of the Amalgamated Mutual and Citizens Life Offices, foregathered at the Commercial and Farmers' Club Rooms in the morning, and presented Mr Young with a gold-mounted smoker's companion, and a silver match-box, suitably engraved. Mr J. Kelliher made the presentation, expressing the esteem in which Mr Young had been held during his long residence in Masterton, and wishing him every success in his new sphere. The health of the recipient was then toasted, after which Mr Young made a brief speech of thanks.
