PREMATURE BURIAL.
The recent debate in the Legislative Council upon the question of pijernature burial is somewhat calculated to
arouse an unnecessary uneasiness in the public mind. Although this most terrible of accidents is undoubtedly extremely rare, at the same-time, it must be recognised that fueh oacurrences are peculiarly possible where those who attend sick persons are ignorant and unscientific, for which reaßon it is unquestionably desirable that a medical man should see every body for which he gives a certificate of death. Any scientific test which places the fact of death beyond all dispute may reasonably be required of the medical man, because it will remove from many minds a very real and distressing fear of premature burial.
