THE CLOUD-BURST AT FALSOM. TWENTY-THREE BODIES RECOVERED. Re:eived August 31, 8.33 a.m. NEW YORK, August 30. When the cloud burst at Falsom, a wall of water eight feet high swept through the mining camp. Twenty-three bodies have been recovered. The fate of scores of others is uncertain.
SAD FATE OF A PLUCKY OPERATOR. Received August 31, 11.35 p.m. NEW YORK, August 31. Mrs Sarah Rook, telegraph operator at Fnlsom, on learning of the approach of the wall of water telephoned to forty subscribers, enabling them to save themselves and their families. The bureau was wrecked and her mutilated body was found twelve miles distant. The telephone receiver was still fixed to her head. A cablegram yesterday morning stated that a cloud-burst had occurred at Falsom, a small mining township in New Mexico.
