A COLLISION.

STEAMER BADLY DAMAGED,

SYDNEY, August 29. At an early hour this morning a collision occurred between the steamer Colac and the collier Pareora at the Heads. The Colac was entering and the collier was outward bound. A huge hole was torn in the Colac's port bow. Her bulkhead saved her from foundering. A fireman had a narrow escape of being crushed to death in his bunk. Both vessels returned to port. The extent of the damage to the collier is unknown.
