THE MALLINSON CONCERT.
There was only a fair attendance at the concert given in the Town Hall last evening, by the concert party headed by Mr and Mrs Mallinson. The entertainment was an excellent one, and merited a far larger audience. Mrs Mallinson's singing was a treat to listen to. Her rich voice quite captivated the audience, and astonishment was expressed at its beauty and range. "Eleanore," was the most beautiful of her songs, and could never be more fascinating than lis sung by her, and her rendering was loudly applauded. Another favourite number was "Four by the j Clock," a haunting, sad little ditty. The accompaniment to this song was | particularly good. Among the utlier numbers in which Mrs Mallinson scored a decided success wore:—"The Kosebud," "Bed in Summer," "Baby," "Oh, My Garden." "Wal- I deinsamkeit," "Daybreak," "0 Danke liiubt," "Gloriana." The recital was a remarkable musical treat, and the audience was very warm in its praise, and showed its appreciation of the fine programme. In all Mrs Mallinson fang over twenty song?, an undertaking which few singers would care to tackle. Mr Mallinson played the accompaniments in excellent st.vle. Miss Rebe Kussmann played three very nice violin solos, ami was loudly applauded, and Miss Evelyn Wyman gave two pianoforte renderings of Chopin, which were .aJso much appreciated.
