VALEDICTORY.
A farewell social was tendered to Mr A. E. Rees, the late general secretary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A., in the Association's rooms las 1 " evening. The chair was occupied by; the Rev. J. N. Buttle, who, in presenting Mr Rees with a purse of sovereings, spoke in eulogistic terms of the service rendered to the Association by Mr Rees, und wished him success in his new sphere. Suveral others spoke in a similar strain. Mr J. B. Rue then presented Mr Rees with a framed enlargement of the Hockey Team. During the evening the following toasts were honoured The King," the Chairman; "Our Guest," proposed by the Chairman, responded to by Mr Rees; "The Masterton Association," Mr Pragnell—Mr Crawford; "Kindred Associations," Mr KingMr Thomson; "Ladies' Auxiliary," Mr Hebenton- 3 Miss Joy; "Mr D. E. Parton, Chairman of the Building Committee," Mr Hendry—Mr Parton; "The Chairman," Mr Parton— Rev. J. N. Buttle; "The New Honorary General Secretary," Mr | Bridges—Mr Marshall; "The Press," Mr Kemp. At suitable inurvals recitations I were rendered by Messrs Kemp and Bridges.
