AMUSEMENTS.

THE MALLINSONS. . The Mallinson song recital is to be given in the Town Hall next Friday evening. Mr Albert Mallinson is now considered England's greatest song composer and an accompanist of the highest merit. (The "Morning Post," London, says:—"The attraction of the Yorkshire composer's music lies in its originality and in the absence of any artificiality. Each song is a different expression of what the composer feels to be an appropriate musicul setting of the words he has chosen." In Mrs Mallinson the composer has an ideal exponent, she is a" singer with a high soprano voice of a beautiful even quality and a production which is delightfully easy. In addition to Mr and Mrs Mallinson, the partv includes Miss Itebe Kussmann, a young violiniste, and Miss Evelyn Wyman, a gifted pianiste. The box plan is on view at Miss Rive's.

"HUMPTY-DUMPTY." The author of "Humpty-Dumpty," the pantomime that will be staged a! the Town Hail next Tuesday, is Mr J. H. Wood, who was also responsible for the book of "Mother Goose." E'or the purposes of stag" presentation, Mi* Wood in "HumptyDumpty" has resurrected the illfated hero of nursery rhyme from the awful smash that baffled all the king's horses and all the king's men, and has carried on the story to the exhaustion of six wishes. The Melbourne "Argus" sums up the production as "an amazing succession of appealing artistic pictures; a wonderful union of illusions, graced by colour, harmony, bevies of charming damsels lavishly costumed, excellent comedy, troops of clever little people quaintly earnest in their business, tuneful incidental music, and songs well above the average." The box plans are now open at Miss Rive's.
