NEW CLUB FORMED.
A meeting was held in the Central Fire Brigade Station, last evening, at which the question of forming a new cricket club in Masterton was discussed. Mr J. W. Blafikman, manager of the gasworks, was in the chair, the attendance being large. On the motion of Mr E. Hooper, seconded by Mr C. E. Ewington, it was resolved to form a Club, to be composed of members of the Masterton Fire Brigade and the Municipal Staff. After some discussion as to the best title for the new Club, it was decided that it should be called the Masterton United Cricket Club. The following were appointed a committee to report to a meeting next Wednesday evening on financial and other matters connected with the new Club:— Superintendent Jenkins, and Messrs J.O'Leary, J. Duggan, A. Congdon, J. Waters, E. McCord and D. Jackson. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and the Glub gives promise of having a strong membership, which »'ill probably include some well-known local players in first-class crickei;.
