A DISTRICT RIFLE MEETING.

It is earnestly to be hoped that the efforts of local riflemen and volunteers to hold a district handicap meeting at Fairview Range, this season, will be successful. Last season such a gathering had to be abandoned at the eleventh hour, through the Opaki Range being condemned as unsafe by the Defence Department. Masterton is the centre of one of the strongest ride-shooting districts in the Dominion, and with the number of crack marksmen in and around the district good competition at a district meeting would be assured. There is little doubt but that once a rifle-meeting is ' founded here it will rapidly grow \ into prominence, and equal in importance the other provincial meetings.
