STARVING FOR LOVE.
DSSPARING YOUTH'S FOI-.TY DAYS' FAST. PARIS, July 9. A young man named Leon Gentault has for the last six weeks been trying to starve himself to Tie reason for this original method of committing suicide is said to be a love affair. Gentault had been last seen to leave his rooms in the Rue des Kigoles towards the end of May. In the course of June the concierge and a neighbour ventured to tap at the door and ask him whether anything was the matter, but they received such curt answers that they decided to leave tha eccentric lodger alone. He was heard moving about from time to time, but this was the only sign of his existence. When July came, however, and he was not only invisible but silent, tha concierge reported the affair to the police, who yesterday decided to burst open his doot. Gentault was lying on the lloor, undressed and unconscious. His body was reduced to a skeleton, and when taken to the hospital he was found to weigh only fifty-nine pounds. There is no reason to doubt that he has been without food for forty days. His exhaustion id such that the doctors say he cannot recover.
