WAIRARAPA HUNT CLUB.

(From Our Tinui Correspondent)

The Wairarapa Hunt Club held a meet a Blairlcgie on the 22nd inst., and as this was the closing meet of the season, in the district, a large crowd of huntsmen and onlookers were present. The weather was perfect. Great amusement was caused at the two big water jumps, only one horse out of the fifteen got safelv over. This horse (Cranky Jack) is owned by Miss Morrison, and was splendidly ridden by Mr Westmoreland, and when the horse cleared the second water jump in £i\2at style, the owner, rider and horse were heartily cheered. What looked like a serious accident was only averted by good horsemanship on the part of Mr Harold Welch. Rata had come to grief at the water jump with Mr C. F. Vallance and as both horse and rider were struggling in the water Mr Welch, who was only a few lengths behind, instantly pulled his mount short round, and in avoiding the fallen rider, received a spill himself. Mr D, Munro received two severe falls off a young horse he was riding. Mr J. Hudson also had two pills, and Mr Welch and Mr A. Schofield one each, but none of them were injured. Miss Morrison hospitably entertained the large crowd at afternoon tea, and for whicn she was heartily cheered. This lady was also congratulated for possessing a ho; so that had proved himself to be the btst jumper in the field that day. The following took part in the run: Messrs H. Welch (huntsman), on Caroline; C. F. Vallance (patron of th 3 Clut), on Rata; Westmorelurd, on Cranky Jack; D. Munro, on Irish Queen; J. Floyd, on Jess; J. O'Brien, on Sandy; A.
