MASTERTON FIRE BOARD.

A meeting ot the Maaterton Firo Board wjj held yeotjrday afternoon, Mr 0. Pragnell presiding over a full attendance of members. It was resolved to submit to Inspector Hugo the by-laws tf the Board, in order to allow him to make any suggestions regarding them. It was djcided to procure a new bucket and tire box for the Jubilee lire engine, through Shand, Mason and Co'a Wellington agents, the Insurance Company representatives bein? instructed to cable for the new parts. It was resolved to brin? under the notice of the Borough Council that part of Inspector Hugo's report dealing with the pressure of the Borough water supply, and to direct the Council's attention to the grave risk involved by allowing indiscriminate use of water in times of drought. It was resolved to accept the offer of the Borough Council in respect of trie installation of a fire alarm system, an agreement to be drawn t p and signed by both parties. It wis decided to ask the Council to appoint a committee to confer with a committee of the Board in reference to the matter. The meeting decided to invite offers of sites in tbe Borough upon which to erect a new fire station. Regarding the supplying of hoise3 for use in the Jubilee fire engine, it was decided to ask the Borough Council to continue the present arrangements for a further two months. The local members of the Board were authorised to pass accounts between full meetings of the Board. £ A communication was read from Seci'ciary of cue Maaierton Fire Brigade asking what the Board intended to do in regard to Inspector Hugo's recommendation that the members of the Brigade should undertake a course of physical drill. The Board decided to obtain more definite information from Inspector Hugo on the subject. ' The Board decided to draw the attention of the Superiniendent of the Fire Brigade to the fact that no men were stationed at the Kftripuni fire station.
