MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUSTEES.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Ma"terton Trust Lands Trustees was held in the Trust Office last evening. There . were present—Messrs T. Michell (chairman), 0. Pragnell, . E. Daniell, R. Krahagen, W. H. Jackson, H. C. Robinson, and T. V.'agg. The Treasurer reported a debit balance of £1,133 3s 2d. A letter was received from the Wellington Harbour Board acknowledging receipt of thp Trustee's acceptance of the Harbour Board's Loan of £IO,OOO at 4J per cent, and stating that the debentures would bear date September Ist, 1908. The letter stated that provided all legal formalities were completed the Commissioners would be abld to advance £l,lOO odd h the first week of September, and the balance of the £1,300 in the first week of October. Messrs Izard and Weston, solicitors, for the Board, returned the deed of covenant to be signed by four of the Trustees, which was duly agreed to. Miss Lucy Dagg, a pupil teacher at Takapau, applied to the Trustees for a matriculation grant. The Trustees decided that as Miss Dagg was not attending a University they could not see their way to co*nplv with the request. A deputation, consisting of Messrs D. McGregor, senr., H. Evans, and W. M. Easthope, waited on the Trustees with the object of securing I a grant towards the improvements in connection with the track and house on the way to Mount Holdsworth. In support of the application Mr McGregor outlined the improvements that had been carried ou*: for the conveniens of visitors to tha mountain. The mountain house and other improvements had necessitated the expending of £lso—£so oE which had been granted by the Government. Messrs Evans and Easthope also spoke in support of the ' request, stating that the committee contemplated" additons to the mountain house, the clearing of an area for the paddojking of horses, and the cutting of tracks to several picturesque spots including a track to the McGregor Falls—a fall of over 100 feet. The Trustees decided, on the motion of Mr Daniel, to irake a grant of £5 towards the Track funds, providing the same is in order. Mrs Mary McLcod applied to lease section 2, part Town Acre 48. for building, and at present occupied by Mr J. Sillars. After some discussion the request was acceeded to, conditional on a new building being erected on the site within a year, the present building to be removed.
