KILLED BY A TRAIN.
BT TELEGBA.VH—PBESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, August 13. A man, whose remains have not been identified, was killed at the esplanade crossing, Thorndon, by the Manawatu train that left tha city for Paekakariki, at 6.20, this evening. It is not known how the accident happened. The body was terribly mutilated. The deceased appears to have been a working .man betwet n 40 and 50 years of age." The hands are oily, and the clothes greasy, but whether by reason of his occupation or through entanglement with the engine is not known. One woman who saw the remains to-night thinks? they may be that of her husband.
