The speed on the voyage to Sydney has been fixed for ten knots per hour, and the warships anchor in tin; Australian Harbour on Thursday morning at 1130 a.m. 11. M.S. Powerful left for Sydney this morning. The supply steamer Culgoa sails fcr Brisbane to-morrow morning to load a cargo of fresh meat for the Fleet. The vessel arrives at Brisbane on the 19th inst., and rejoins the Fleet at Sydney a few days later. Some 30' officers from the America)! Fleet left for Motutapu to-ilay to indulge in a day's sport deer-stalking on the island. The party returned to town this evening with several good antlers as trophies of the visit. A RIFLE MATCH. VISITORS DEFEATED. AUCKLAND, August 13. A team of Auckland volunteers defeated representatives of the rifle shots of the American fleet at Penrose to-day by 65 points. The conditions were 25 men aside, with seven shots at 200, 500, and 600 yards. Auckland got 2,311 points, and the visitors 2.246. The highest score of the day were put on by Midshipmen Jones and Stewart, of the visitors' team, who got 102, and 100 respectively. The home teams/ best score was 99. Received August 14, 12.40 a.m. SYDNEY, August 13. Preparations for the welcome to the American fleet are progressing satisfactorily. The decoration of tha streets is well forward.
