WELLINGTON MEAT COMPANY.
By lelegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 13. The annual meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company was held to-day. The Chairman (Mr W. G. Foster) stated that during the year the equivalent of 545,899 sheen was handled, an increase of 15,203 on the previous year. Of the 545,899 sheep put through 127,099 had been frozen by owners who in so doing had in most cases had the specific desire of supporting the Company which was originally purely a farmers' company, and still had a wide and influential connection in the country. The increase in wages during the past eighteen months could scarcely be placed at less than seven and a-half per cent., and on this basis the extra amount paid hy the Company to the worker during the twelve months ending June 30th would exceed £3,500. The capital expenditure for the year was £13,806, of which £8,490 was for plant, and its erection, and £5,735 for new premises. The Company, was now to be congratulated upon having the best fellmongery in the Australasian colonies. The retiring directors (Messrs J. W. Marshal and W. H. Beetham) were elected without opposition. The remunerationwas fixed at £3OO, the same as in previous years
