"THE MERRYMAKERS."
There was an excellent attendance at the Town Hall last evening to listen to the entertainment given by "The Merrymakers," who succeeded in pleasing the audience immensely. "The Merrymakers" were in costume of searlct-the raiment of glorified clowns—and they had a quaint back ground of bla:k splashed with red; the background did not change, the ! robes did not vary, but the fun had many phases. The fare was bizarre. There was drollery without undue vulgarity. The great bulk of ' the people seemed to be happy all the time,- but there were boresome periods for a minority. However, even the most captious laughed much more than they yawned, and owed most of their mirth to Mr Sam Walsh, a rare comedian, a subtle trick pianist and patterer. His "few remarks on music," with illustrations, describing the agonies of neople who have to endure the outpourings of misguided amateurs, young and otherwise, made laughter run up and down and across the building ceaselessly. He was oven more captivating with a piano version of a , melodrama. It was a very clever performance. Next in popularity was Mr J. M. Campbell with an impersonation of "Mrs Wizen." He was an excellent middle-aged woman, with a tongue which was distinctly smart. Mr Eric Blore gave a whimsical "sneeze" song admirably, and had other ditties for the hearty amusement of his hearer?. Mr Gavin Wood, in merry numbers, showed that he had a pleasant buss voice of _astt.nishing range. The female artists of the company were encored for their singing. In concerted numbers of various kinds, "The Merrymakers," of both sexes, were always interesting. A second performance will be given this evening, when there should be a packed house to greet this fine combination.
