GUARDIANS SENTENCED TO IM-

PRISONMENT.

After twenty days' trial all the Mile End guardians accused of corruption were found guilty. Alderman Hirst, tnrice Mayor of Stepney, was fined £250 and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Warren was fined £250-, and sentenced to imprisonment lor one year. Tlie others were lined £25 with various terms of imprisonment ranging from six to fifteen months, except Gilson, who was only lined £250.
