HOCKEY.
The semi-final and final rounds of the competition for the badges presented by the President of the Wairarapa Hockey Association (Mr A. C. Major) were played at Carterton yesterday. Carterton A defeated Knox, in the semi-final, and in the final a prolonged struggle resulted in Carterton A defeating Carterton B and winning the badges. In the Club Hotel in the evening a smoke concert was held, at which Mr W. C. Buchanan (patron of the Carterton Hockey Club) presided. During the course of the evening the badges were presented to the winners by the chairman, and a number of toasts were honoured, and songs and recitations given, and an enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
