JEWS UPON THE LAND.
SETTLEMENT IN WESTERN STATES OF AMERICA. AN APPEAL. Received August 4, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, August 3. Mr Israel Zangwill, the well-known novelist, at a meeting of the Jewish Territorial Organisation, entitled "Ito," announced that a scheme was afoot.to settle a large number of Jews upon land in the Western States of America. Mr Zangwill urged avoidance of the Eastern cities, and begged Zionists, whose Palestine scheme was impossible, to join the "Ito" movement.
