CORRESPONDENCE.
(To.the Editor). Sir,—Seeing that the meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Hockey Association, called for the purpose of selecting the representatives, to play Wellington, did not eventuate, owing, it ia said, to a misunderstanding (?), I think that the beads ot affairs should meet as early as possible and give those selected a chance to make the necessary preparations for travel. It is mooted that the team wilj be picked after the conclusion of the tournament games at Carterton on Thursday next. Now Sir, \what chance has a man to make any arrangements by Saturday, if such is the case. In all my experienca in pport, I have always held that rep. teams are entitled to plenty of time, and I do not see why the Wairarapa Hockey Association should be an exception to this rule. It was>said, at the annual reunion last Thursday, that there was every prospect of hockey .making big strides in this district; but if things are allowed to go oh in this slip-shod • • fashion, and the people, who are supposed to be sporting enthusiasts, do not turn up to important meetings like this, what is to become of the game? My opinion* is that people and players alike will get sick of what might be termed a farce at managing, and hockey will go back to where it was three years ago. Hopingthis will meet the eyes of those who are responsible.—l am, etc., A STRANGER IN THE WAIRARAFA.
